A very wet day at Beeston Nottingham followed the team staying in a Hotel in Derby near to the Championship football stadium Derbys Pride Park. Beeston continue to develop there club facilities and it is amazing to see 2 more astro turfs being added to the 3 that are already down and the lovely club house just tops it all off.
The game started off very evenly with Beeston creating chances but Swansea doing well on the break. Both team had chances in the 1st quarter but both defences held firm. Ex Beeston player Jessd Roe was keen to do well against her team mates and put in some excellent tackles. Hannah Griffiths chased well up front and Betsan Thomas was ever the attacking threat.
Two quick green cards put Swansea under pressure for periods in the 2nd quarter but they were still able to create attack opportunities and were unlucky when a missed foul by Beeston opened up the chance for the Beeston forward to move into an attacking position and cross for her team mate to deflect past Swansea's goalkeeper. Again Swansea built chances and where able to get into Beeston's D but they could not create a attacking opportunity to test the keeper.
2-0 at half time was not a reflection of the passage of play but did show the killer instinct required at the highest level. In the second half Beeston piled on the pressure and were awarded lots of penalty corners and finally the defence cracked after fine and brave defending bay all with a great goal line save from Jess Roe and some excellent saves fro Jana. Beeston finished the game on top and added a 4th before the end.
Swansea were please with some of the play but still feel there is much more to give and we look forward to the continued challenge of playing in the highest league. Debut for Katie Mulroy keeps adding to the numbers who have now played Premier League this season
Many thanks to all at Beeston for putting on the match and providing us with excellent after match hospitality.
